Complete list of Custom Commands Script Downloads for Dragon to work hands-free on Windows PC:
To import the custom command Dragon scripts below for Windows PC, download the file and then go to your DragonBar menu, click on Tools > Command Center > Command Browser > Import, and select the .dat file to import. Make sure the files are saved in your User-defined folder within the Command Browser (select MyCommands mode to view the folders, and copy-paste the commands from Samples folder to User-defined folder if they aren’t already in User-defined). Note that importing custom commands will only work if you have Dragon Professional 15, but will not work for Dragon Home 15 edition.
| Dragon Custom Command | Description |
| Mouse Triple Click | When you place your cursor at a particular spot on the screen and say “mouse triple click”, the mouse will triple click on the item. This is useful when browsing the web when you need to select a link to copy-paste: 1) place the mouse cursor hovering over the URL link using the built-in “MouseGrid” command, 2) say “mouse triple click” (will only work if you’ve properly imported the .dat script file to Dragon) 3) say “press control c” to copy the url you’ve just selected 4) go to the new location where you want to paste the url and say “press control v” Dragon’s built-in Mouse Triple Click command doesn’t have enough wait time to be able to triple-click to select a url to copy-paste in some situations (e.g. when trying to copy-paste a Zoom link from Zoom online on Chrome), which is when this custom command comes in hand. |
| Go Back | When you are using Chrome to browse the web and need to go back to the previous webpage that you were on, say “go back” and this custom command will move back to the prior page. (Equivalent to clicking on the left arrow icon in the upper left hand of Chrome) This is super useful since Chrome works better with Dragon but there’s no “go back a page” built-in command available yet. So for now, you can use this custom command to navigate. |
| Go Forward | When you are using Chrome to browse the web and need to go forward to the previous webpage that you were on, say “go forward” and this custom command will move forward to the prior page. (Equivalent to clicking on the right arrow icon in the upper left hand of Chrome) This is useful since there’s no built-in “go forward a page” command in Dragon for Chrome yet. |
| Show Favorites | This is a great workaround for using the bookmarks bar in chrome! When you are using Chrome and want to click on your bookmarks bar, say “Show Favorites” and Chrome will show a full list of all your bookmarks. This is helpful when you have a lot of bookmarks and want to easily navigate to your favorite pages, e.g. to access bookmarks that do not fit on the bookmarks bar. 1) Say “Show Favorites” and your bookmarks bar will show up 2) Say “Page Down” if needed, to navigate to the desired bookmark 3) Say “Click” and then say the name of the bookmark in the list to go to it (e.g. “Click Gmail”) |
| Show Little Numbers | Use this custom command if you are having difficulties clicking on “unclickable” items in Chrome when browsing the web. A huge annoyance with Dragon is that although there are many options to navigate webpages such as the “show links” and then “choose <#>” command, there are many webpages where you want to click on a specific button or part of the page but no numbers show up there. To use this command, you must install the Chrome Click By Voice Plugin first, in addition to importing the custom script. 1) Install Dragon Web Extension for Chrome, if you don’t already have it installed 2) Install Click By Voice for Chrome (and also ensure Dragon Chrome plugin is also installed) 3) Restart Chrome and restart your computer 4) Open Chrome (say: “Open Google Chrome”) 5) Open a webpage where you’ve been having difficulties clicking on things. For example, go to Gmail: say “Press Control Alt D” to click on address bar, then say “Gmail.com” and say “Press Enter” 6) Say “Show Little Numbers” and little numbers should show up 7) Say “Press Control Shift Space” and you should see a little popup hint box appear in the upper right corner. If this isn’t working for some reason, you can contact us with a Custom Request for troubleshooting help. 8) Say the number you want to click, e.g. say “Thirteen” (to click on the little number 13) 9) Say “Press Enter” This is one of our favorite commands for navigating the web for everyday hands-free work! It is also possible to use a set of custom commands that allow you to simply say “Show Little Numbers” and then “Click little <#>”; we are working on this script and will be releasing it soon (check back at this page a couple of months from now). |
| Hide Little Numbers | Use this custom command to hide little numbers (e.g. if you are using the “show little numbers” custom command but want to hide the numbers if you’re not using them or want to see the webpage without them). This command is useful when you’re on a webpage that has a text section that keeps inserting numbers repetitively into the blanks of the text entry. In these cases sometimes it’s useful to say “Hide Little Numbers” for a while to avoid a bunch of successive numbers showing up (try saying “Show Links” and “choose <#>” Dragon built-in commands instead if you can) and then say “Show Little Numbers” again when you’re ready to navigate with the little numbers again. You must have the Dragon Web Extension and Click By Voice Chrome Extension enabled to use this. |
| Show More Little Numbers | Use this custom command if you are having difficulties clicking on “unclickable” items in Chrome when browsing the web, in circumstances when the “Show Little Numbers” custom command does not show enough numbers in the locations on the webpage where you want to click. This command works just like “Show Little Numbers”, except that shows even more numbers for the super-unclickable webpage elements! Say “show more little numbers” to view more clickable elements on the webpage. To return back to normal mode again, say “hide little numbers” and then say “show little numbers” again. You must have the Dragon Web Extension and Click By Voice Chrome Extension enabled to use this. |
| Open Downloaded File | With Dragon it can be tricky and cumbersome to navigate the File Explorer and open a file that you’ve just downloaded, since the “Show Links” command doesn’t show number choices for the downloaded file link to double click and open it. So, this custom command is a great alternative/workaround for this! 1) Go to a webpage where you will download a file (e.g. “Open Google Chrome”, “Press Alt D”, and then say the name of the webpage (note: you can say “Spell mode on” and “Spell mode off” if you have difficulty typing in a specific url) 2) Download the file (e.g. use the “Show Links” Dragon built-in command or “Show Little Numbers custom command) to navigate and click on a download link or button to download a file 3) Say “Open Downloaded File”, to open your downloaded file that has now appeared in the lower left of Chrome. This should also work for any browser that you are downloading a file from, such as Firefox, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, etc. |
| Open And Save Downloaded File | This command works the same as “Open Downloaded File” custom command, except it saves you time by also navigating to the “save as” menu automatically so you can rename your file and save it into a specific folder. If the code is buggy, you may need to say “Click Browse” or “Page Down” and then “Click Browse” to navigate to the “save as” file explorer interface to save the file. Useful tips: – To rename your file, try saying “Move to the beginning”, “Move right 3 spaces”, etc. – To save to a folder location, try saying “Click Documents” or “Click <foldername>” and then “Click Save” |
| Open And Save Downloaded Excel File | Sometimes “Open And Save Downloaded File” command doesn’t work for excel files. So, if you’re specifically downloading and opening/saving an excel file, say “Open And Save Downloaded Excel File” to ensure that the file enables editing and the “save as” menu opens properly. |
| Open Microsoft Word | When the built-in Dragon command “Open Microsoft Word” / “Open Word” is buggy and takes you to the online version of Word or does not work at all, use this custom command script! Say “Open Microsoft Word” and it will properly open the Microsoft Word application. Tip: You can modify the code for this custom command script to open ANY application, not just Microsoft Word! To do so: 1) Find the .exe file location for the program or application you want to open. For example, search for the app in the Windows Start search bar, then right-click on it, and click on “Open file location”. Next, right-click on the app and click on Properties. Copy the Target link (without the quotations!) e.g. C:\ProgramFiles/MicrosoftOffice\Office16\WINWORD.EXE You will not be able to find the .exe file path location by searching the program folders; you can only do so by right-clicking a shortcut of the app and clicking Properties. 2) Go to DragonBar > Tools > Command Center > Add New Command 3) Under Command Type, select “Step-By-Step” 4) Under New Step, select the dropdown menu to change Keystrokes to Open (application) 5) Click Insert 6) In the Target text box, paste your file path location of the .exe file of your application. e.g. C:\ProgramFiles….\WINWORD.EXE (make sure there are no quotation (“) signs in the file path location, nor any “…” marks (include the full application file path). 7) Click OK 8) In MyCommand, enter the phrase you wish to say to open the application, e.g. type in Open Microsoft Word |
| Open Microsoft Outlook | Similarly to the “Open Microsoft Word” custom command script, this custom command opens Microsoft Outlook application and comes in handy since the built-in Dragon commands don’t work well. |
NOTE: None of the custom commands above will actually work unless you download and import them properly into Dragon. You must have the Dragon Professional Naturally Speaking software downloaded to be able to use these commands (there are some versions of Dragon that do not allow custom scripts). However, it’s well worth it to purchase the version that allows custom commands since the workarounds are endless!
